Resonance (Part 3) ( 残響(後編) "Zankyō (Kōhen)" ) is the 29th chapter of the Kekkaishi Manga written and illustrated by Yellow Tanabe
Yoshimori, Yumeko Hananokoji, and the ghost of Masahiko Tsukijigaoka finally finish the cake. However, Masahiko realizes a flaw in their plan: the last time he made the cake, he lied to his brother and said their late mother sent it from heaven. Obviously, this will not work again. Yumeko assures him that since Toshihiko is no longer a child, he will understand why it was necessary to lie to him back then.
Yumeko's driver rushes them to the site of Masahiko's accident, where Toshihiko is waiting. Yoshimori presents the cake to him, but is dismayed to see it was damaged in transport. Toshihiko begins to laugh, instantly recognizing this as his brother's work, since he's tried to pass off a cake coming from a dead person before. Toshihiko even admits that as a boy, the instant he saw the cake, he knew it wasn't made by his mother. It made him happy only because his brother had gone to so much effort to please him. Masahiko tries to apologize for leaving home and forcing Toshihiko to take over the family business. Toshihiko, however, only resented the fact that his brother died so suddely. He admits that as he was working recently, he felt like he was being watched, and had a dream about his brother. Toshihiko accepts the cake and assures his brother than he'll be fine, as long as he keeps the memory of it. Masahiko is finally able to pass on, and as he fades away, he thanks Yoshimori for helping him.
Yoshimori and Yumeko later taste the reject cakes they made, but they were all horrible. A few days later, Toshihiko sends some of his products to the Sumimura Home as a gift.
